The 1/8-mile dragstrip @ Panama Beach Raceway (PBR) is open to all types of Racing &
Street Legal vehicles. Fun seekers can drive or trailer their Race Cars or Street
Legal rides to PBR and then run (pre-approved) race slicks when they slam down the
strip. All vehicles that participate must present full bodied cars, roadsters, dune
buggies, jeeps, trucks, quad runners, snowmobiles, or dragster type vehicles.
Drivers are required to have a valid state driver's license and sign a Waiver &
Release form before being allowed to participate. Licensed minors must provide a
signed "Waiver & Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement Parents: Guardians:
Minors" form before being allowed to participate. These forms must being signed by
the minor’s Parents or legal guardian. These forms are available at the PBR
dragstrip.
This community-based program is designed to offer a safe alternative to illegal
street racing at the same time affording those participants who have real race cars
and muscle cars a place to test their cars or just come out and see how fast they
really are. Competition within a structured format demonstrates the advantages of
racing on the strip ... and not on the street.
Some racers choose to pair up with their buddies and see who has the BADDEST-FASTEST
car. The blend of old school and new school racers base their rivalries on
performance in a safe, organized environment. These newly organized racers will
quickly become ambassadors for the program and the sport of drag racing. Many of
the old time racers are quickly becoming advocates of 1/8 mile Drag Racing.
